6mm f/2.8 Fisheye-Nikkor
(ITEM SOLD FOR £100,000 BUT RETAINED ON THIS SITE DUE TO CLIENT INTEREST AND MEDIA ADVERTISING). Nikon stunned the photographic world at Photokina in 1970 by introducing a 220 º fisheye Nikkor with an astonishing speed of f/2.8. It is the world’s most extreme wide-angle lens to cover of the 24 x 36mm image area (at the time) with a massive glass dome which dwarfs the camera attached. The 6mm is for scientific and industrial applications and special effects when shooting portraits, architecture and interiors, etc. Lens production began in March 1972 and was only made available to special order. 6mm f/2.8 Fisheye-Nikkor lens serial no. 628024, Lens construction: 12 elements in 9 groups, Picture angle: 220º , Diaphragm: Automatic, Aperture scale: f/2.8-f/22 on both standard and aperture-direct-readout scales, Weight: 5200g, Dimensions: 236mm dia. x 171mm long (overall); 160mm extension from lens flange, Distance scale: graduated in metres and feet from 0.25m (0.9ft) to infinity (∞), Filters: built-in skylight (L1BC), medium yellow (Y48), deep yellow (Y52), orange (O56), and red (R60) Front lens cap: Slip-on, delivered in a rugged metal case.
MINT- £0.00
6mm f/5.6 Fisheye-Nikkor
SOLD BUT RETAINED HERE DUE TO CLIENT INTEREST. RAREST NIKON LENS CATEGORY. Together with the 6mm f/2.8 lens, this is the widest of the Fisheye-Nikkor lenses, with an angle of view of 220°. With its 6mm focal length and extremely wide coverage, subjects slightly behind the camera will also be included in the image. There are six filters built in on a rotating turret: L1A (Sky), Y48 & Y52 (light and medium yellow), R60 (Red), XO (green and O57 (orange). The aperture range is: f/5.6 to f/22, Elements/groups: 9/6. Apparently, the 6mm Fisheye-Nikkor was originally produced as a survey lens for the National Arctic Survey to take pictures of the whole sky and cloud formations unhindered. First production: January 1969. Our research suggests that serial numbers began with 656001 and that 191 were produced (excluding five prototypes); this example is number 656091. We have never offered one of these for sale before and are exceptionally fortunate to have sourced it. The lens is complete with caps and finder (also with cap).

13mm f/5.6 Nikkor Pre AI Enhanced to AI Specification
One of the "holy grails" of Nikon lenses (indeed made in fewer numbers than the legendary 6mm f/2.8 of which some 682 examples are believed to have been manufactured). The 13mm f/5.6 Nikkor ultra-wide-angle lens was introduced in March 1976 in a pre-AI type lens mount and according to a reliable source only 36 were ever produced in this mount. Our lens numbered 175037 is one of this batch of 36 (produced after two prototypes) and has been enhanced to Ai specification with a specially engineered Ai ring kit No10/11 manufactured by Nikon and applied by Nikon upon special request. Following the Pre Ai batch of 36 another 315 Ai and AiS versions of the 13mm were produced. This extraordinary lens having only ever been available to special order. The 13mm f/5.6 covers an angle of 118º. It weighs in at 1200 grams and represents the widest full frame f/5.6 rectilinear lens available for the 35mm format (giving none of the barrel distortion found with fish-eye lenses and yet being wider than many fish-eyes). It is 4 inches long (10.2cm), with an aperture range from f/5.6 to f/22. It has 16 elements in 12 groups; the front element has a diameter of almost 11cm and is surrounded by a fixed 'petal' style lens hood. It has a floating rear element design, CRC close-range correction, a rectilinear element design for straight line rendition and can focus down to one foot. In 1977 the lens was updated to the AI standard, and in March 1982 the third version was introduced with the AIS type mount with four x 39mm (rear bayonet mount) filters: Skylight, Orange, Amber and Blue in a CL-14 case. It was designed by Mr. Ikuo Mori of the 1st Optical Section, Optical Designing Department at Nikon Optical Japan. We believe only about 353 of all 13mm variant lenses were ever made (pre Ai, Ai, AiS), including two prototypes mentioned above. "It is Nikon's greatest lens because not only is it big and supremely expensive, it is Nikon's, and perhaps photography's, greatest lens because it lets us make photographs we can make no other way." Ken Rockwell. Our example has been meticulously serviced by a specialist to ensure smooth focus, faultless action of the auto-diaphragm and pristine cleanliness.

45mm f/2.8 GN Auto Nikkor pre-AI
NEAR NEW - TRULY EXCEPTIONAL. NO746149. The GN Auto Nikkor is designed to simplify flash photography. As its name GN (guide number) suggests, the lens employs the guide number coupling system for automatic diaphragm adjustment. With any ordinary lens, aperture size must be adjusted for each different shooting distance with flashbulbs or non-automatic mode with an electronic flash. Aperture size for each shooting distance needs to be calculated, using the guide number equation with the flash unit that you are using if the GN Nikkor is not employed. When the GN control is disconnected, the lens acts like an ordinary compact 45mm standard lens (sometimes referred to as a “pancake” lens due to small size). By disengaging the GN coupling device, the lens can be coupled with camera exposure meters for full aperture exposure measurement. The 7-bladed polygonal diaphragm, designed to form an almost circular aperture around the most commonly used f/8 setting, reduces the effects of light diffraction to the minimum. It can be stopped down to f/32. The lens is particularly popular due to two major qualities 1) Exceptional sharpness and 2) Exceptional compactness.

58mm f/1.2 Noct-Nikkor AIS
NEAR NEW/BOXED/WITH MANUAL - EXTRAORDINARY!! Box with original matching number 188601 (a combination which we have only seen twice in 10 years). Nikon’s ultra sharp wide aperture (f/1.2) lens was introduced in AiS format in 1981 and discontinued due to a hugely expensive manufacturing process and cost of materials in 1998. Over the 17 years of manufacture only 8951 examples could be produced – an average of just under 567 lenses a year! (Contrast this with the run of a million 50mm f/1.4 lenses produced in the same period). The front element was a hand ground and hand polished aspheric surface giving the lens an unrivalled quality which endures to this day and ensures constant demand by the most discerning photographers (high-end amateur and professional). The aspheric front lens element in combination with exotic glasses and superlative optical design assured optimum correction for coma, particularly at maximum aperture, and other Seidel aberrations leading this lens to perform superlatively at maximum apertures. Design refinements made it possible to focus as close as 0.5m (1.7 ft) and yield distortion free images while retaining high contrast.

105mm f/4.5 UV Nikkor AIS
The 105mm f/4.5 UV-Nikkor is one of the rarest and most specialized lenses ever made by Nikon. It was introduced in 1985 and available to special order only. Specifically designed for UV (ultraviolet) photography and, with virtually no variation in the focus position between visible rays and UV rays, it eliminates clumsy focus adjustments. A special coating is applied to the air-to-glass surface of the lens elements to reduce reflection under UV rays. At all focused distances in every wavelength range, aberration is minimal and distortion is eliminated. Of course, ordinary photography can be performed in visible light. Lens construction: 6 elements in 6 groups, picture angle: 23º20', Distance scale: Graduated in meters and feet from 0.48m (1.57ft.) to infinity (∞), Aperture scale: f/4.5 to f/32 on both standard and aperture-direct readout scales, Reproduction ratio: Scale provided: 1:10 to 1:2, Filter size 52mm, Weight: Approx. 515g. NEW/UNCIRCULATED complete boxed outfit. Lens, Gelatin Filter Holder, special Filter, UR-2 Ring. 100% new - both very rare and very unusual. Highly sought after and extraordinary to find in this condition.

120mm f/4 Medical-Nikkor IF (internal focusing) AIS
VIRTUALLY NEW! COMPLETE WITH AUXILIARY CLOSE FOCUS LENS, BATTERY POWER PACK & LEADS. The first medical Nikkor (200mm) lens was introduced in November, 1962. There were two known subsequent updates of this 200 which occurred in 1972 with some refinements in lens features, handling and improved power supplies and 1974 with cosmetic changes and improved lens coating. A radical change to the design of this lens series occurred in December, 1981 at whick time Nikon introduced a new version with a more practical focal length of 120mm and incorporating an Internal Focus (IF) design. The lens also had a faster maximum lens speed of f/4.0 and automatic flash exposure control capability with more modern bodies. This 120mm close-up Medical Nikkor (with special accessory lens for extreme close up work) provided a new dimension in precision, handling and user friendliness. Originally designed for medical research and close up work of the buccal cavity eyes etc., this specialized lens was also widely used for industrial, scientific research and even as a superb close-up lens for macrophotography. The main technical highlights of this lens was are an ability to record fine details in infinitely variable reproduction ratios from 1:11 to 1:1 life-size reproduction with shadowless illumination provided by a built-in ringlight at the front of the lens and all aided and abetted by a modelling light. With the accompanying a 2X close-up attachment lens (filter attachment size: 49mm), the maximum magnification ratio of 1X at 0.35m (lens only) can reach at an astonishing 2:1(2X) at its closest focusing distance (0.26m with 2X auxiliary lens attached). The internal focusing (IF) design used in its optical design provides two distinctive advantages; first, since there is no helical extension movement causing physical extension of the lens barrel during focusing the lens provides an excellent level of operational ease in the areas of lens handling; next, the IF design also enables the lens design to be very compact in its size and offer a silky smooth focusing action. The choice of focal length at 120mm over the early version of 200mm of this lens is attributed to a few factors: a) the lens provides a faster maximum aperture at f/4.0 versus bulkiness of a possible 200mm with similar configuration, b) this lens was/is generally used for handheld photography where a longer focal length is more susceptible to the negative effects of hand-shake. The lens picture angle of 18° 50' still provides reasonably natural perspective without too much of distortion when shooting at its closest focusing/working range. Its optical construction features a design of 9 elements in 6 groups. The use of Nikon’s multicoating provides the lens with excellent colour fidelity and high image contrast across its entire aperture and focusing ranges. The exceptional flatness of field attributed to the superior optical design of the lens also minimize any possible optical defects commonly found in close-up lenses. One important feature among the many that this Nikkor close-up lens provides is the highly practical built-in ring-flash which has contributed to its distinguished physical appearance. The ring flash used in the Medical Nikkor utilises advanced thyristor control and can provide automatic flash exposure. With the built-in ringlight flash, this Medical Nikkor lens provides an innovative guide-number (GN) system that automatically sets an appropriate aperture according to the subject distance is set on the focusing ring. The built-in ring flash, apart from providing a more assuring optical result in exposures, also offers shadowless illumination. There are film speed settings provided on the lens while a red LED ready-light sits at the on top of lens barrel acting as visual confirmation of flash charge status. Naturally, the flash can be turned off when not needed. The appropriate reproduction ratio also appears inside the camera's viewfinder in the lower right-hand corner of the frame as the lens is focused (it serves as an alternative flash ready-light) , and is imprinted on the film at the instant of exposure; the imprinting system can also be turned off when it is not needed. Technical details are as follows: DISTANCE SCALE: Graduated in meters from 1.6m to 0.35m (white numerals for use with lens only) and from 0.33m to 0.26m (orange numerals applicable when 2X close-up attachment lens is attached; sticker-type conversion scale for feet also provided. FLASH ILLUMINATION: Via built-in electronic flash ringlight at front of lens provides wraparound, shadowless illumination, flash can be turned off when not needed. FLASH OUTPUT POWER: Approx 60W. FLASH DURATION: Approx. 1/500sec. at ASA/ISO 25; controlled by thyristors and series circuitry and varies with film speed setting. READY LIGHT: Provided; red LED on top of lens barrel; reproduction ratio in the viewfinder also serves as ready-light. DIAPHRAGM: Fully automatic; diaphragm linked to focusing ring, so that correct aperture for flash photography is set as the focusing ring is turned EXPOSURE MEASUREMENT: With built-in ringlight flash: automatic; guide-number (GN) system automatically sets appropriate aperture as subject distance is set on the focusing ring. Without flash: via stop-down method; meter coupling shoe not provided. REPRODUCTION RATIO: Continuously variable from 1/11X to 1X (lens only) and 0.8X to 2X (with 2X close-up attachment lens). DATA IMPRINTING: Possible when using ringlight flash; reproduction ratios (1/11X to 2X) can be recorded in lower right hand corner of the film; non-data shooting also possible by leaving DATA button in "off" position. FOCUSING LAMP (MODEL LIGHT): 12V lamp at front of lens provided to facilitate focusing in dim light; glows for 16sec. after finger is taken off LAMP button; automatically stops glowing when ring light fires or power source is turned off. POWER SOURCE: AC Power Unit LA-2 or DC Battery Pack LD-2 (optional). WEIGHT 890g (lens only). DIMENSIONS: 98mm dia. x 150mm long (overall); 142mm extension from lens flange. ATTACHMENT LENS SIZE: 49mm front screw-in; 2X close-up attachment lenses provided. FRONT LENS CAP : Slip-on. Our Medical Nikkor comes with with DC (battery) Power Unit LD-2, Power cord SC-21, 3-pin hot shoe sync cord SC-22 and instruction manual - it is thus ready for use with any Nikon "hot shoe" camera body. Although this system is called a "Medical-Nikkor" lens, it has many other applications, including dental, scientific, industrial, and nature photography.

200mm f/5.6 Medical-Nikkor Auto
VIRTUALLY NEW! RARE! c/w all six auxiliary lenses, LA-1 power unit, 1.5m power cord, synch cord, neck strap for power unit. Manufactured C.1975. The basic setup of a Medical Nikkor 200mm consists of a prime lens, a set of six auxiliary lenses and an AC or a battery power source for operating the lighting units. The lens offers a choice of eleven different magnification ratios in combination with the six auxiliary lenses. (The prime lens alone gives the reproduction ratio of 1/15X and the auxiliary lenses, attached singularly or in varied combinations, provide a range of magnification ratios from 1/8X to an amazing 3X reproduction i.e. 1/8X, 1/6X, 1/2X, 1X, 1/8X and 2X). The Medical-Nikkor has a self-compensating design, eliminating all bothersome calculations for setting the diaphragm in relation to film speed and reproduction ratio. All that is required of the photographer is to set the lens for the ASA speed of the film used, attach the auxiliary lens or lenses in accordance with the desired magnification ratio, focus by moving the camera toward or away from the subject and release the shutter. It was also one of the first batch of Nikon auto thyristors that provide automatic flash exposure. Its primary objective was to facilitate convenience in lens handling, permitting deliveries of high quality images of optimum exposure even if it was handled by someone that has little photographic knowledge. The was made possible with the incorporation of an automatic lens diaphragm stops down to correct aperture at the moment of exposure. The ring light surrounds the front element of the lens has a typical old reflective flash surface which aims to produce even and shadowless illumination. It may be removed from the lens for servicing and for providing special lighting angles. The color temperature of 6000° K permits the use of daylight colour film. The flash duration is 1/500 second. The Medical-Nikkor ring light synchronizes with the prevailing Nikon F2 series models at the shutter speed of 1/60 second; however, when used it with any of the Nikon F Series Models it operates at 1/30 second, while the Nikkormat series will synchronize at 1/60 second. Actually, there are also two illumination units are built into the lens: the electronic ring light and pilot lamps. Positioned behind the ring light are four incandescent bulbs that comprise the pilot lamps. These facilitate precise focusing in the dark. The lens also incorporates a device for printing an identification number (1 to 39) or magnification ratio (1/15X to 3X) in the lower right-hand corner of each frame by making use of a small fraction of the ring light output or "leak" flash. Specifications: Specifications: Focal length: 200mm Maximum aperture: 1:5.6 Lens construction: 4 elements in 4 groups Picture angle: 12°20' Aperture scale: f/5.6 - f/45 Aperture diaphragm: Fully automatic Attachment size: 38mm (P=0.75) Dimensions: 80mm dia.x 176mm length (3 5/32 in x 6-15/16 in.) Special Purpose Lenses

Zoom Lenses

25-50mm f/4 Zoom-Nikkor AIS
Building on an earlier success with the 28-45mm wideangle zoom, the efforts of Nikon's optical engineers led to the launch of this remarkable zoom lens in 1979 . The Zoom-Nikkor 25-50mm f/4.0 lens provides a pronounced ultra-wideangle picture coverage up to a standard focal length of 50mm, making it a favourite among earlier professional users. Employing a complex optical design of 11 elements in 10 groups, the immediate benefit of this lens was minimisation of optical aberrations such as distortion. Many Nikon users claimed that the performance of this lens was comparable to that of fixed focal length objectives.

*Definition: Nikon digital SLRs have either an FX or a DX sensor. The FX sensor, measuring 24x36mm, is roughly equivalent to the size of the 35mm film frame. The DX sensor is smaller, measuring 15.8x23.6mm.

DX-NIKKOR lenses are engineered and optimized for use on Nikon DX-format D-SLRs and are designed to cover the smaller image area of the DX sensor. When a DX lens is mounted on an FX-format Nikon D-SLR, the cameras DX-Crop Mode is automatically engaged, introducing a 1.5x magnification (cropping) factor.
