8mm f/8 Fisheye-Nikkor lens
RARE - COLLECTOR'S GRADE! This lens covers a 180° picture angle horizontally and vertically. A circular image field, 24mm in diameter, is obtained. This lens is ideal for such scientific requirements as measuring the zenith or azimuth angle of astronomical bodies or for showing the distribution of clouds in meteorology. In addition, the Fish-eye lens can also be used to obtain distorted pictures with unusual graphic impact, especially in advertising photography. The front element has an exceptionally large 69mm diameter. A manually set diaphragm operated by a lever has clicks stops to f/22. No focusing is required because of its extreme depth of filed: from infinity to 20" (50cm) even when aperture is fully open at f/8. There are six built-in filters on a rotating turret: orange (O57), medium yellow (Y48), dark yellow (Y51) skylight (L1A), yellowish green (XO) and red (R60). The lens is used with the mirror in the camera in the locked-up position (Nikon F and F2 models). This lens requires the use of a matching Fish-eye finder ( no 111304) with a field of 160° which fits onto the camera accessory shoe. Because of its large 82mm barrel diameter, the lens cannot be attached to the camera with first revving the Photomic finder. Dimensions 82.0mm (dia) x 42.3mm. Weight: 300g. Supplied with 79mm screw-n front cap (no. 111816), rear lens cap 3F (no. 111833) in bown leather case (no. 111733). Heres an interesting bit of photography/movie trivia that surfaced recently. Remember the infamous HAL 9000? HAL 9000 was the AI villain from Stanley Kubricks film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Instantly recognizable by his eerily calm voice and red, all-seeing eye (not to mention his penchant for killing crew members when they became troublesome), HAL 9000 is listed as the 13th greatest film villain in AFIs 100 Years100 Heroes & Villains. But did you know that HAL 9000s all-seeing eye was actually a Nikkor 8mm f/8 Fish-Eye lens? The film director Peter Jackson actually owns the one from the film serial no. 88621. THIS UNUSED EXAMPLE COMES COMPLETE WITH NIPPON KOGAKU PLASTIC COVER, BROWN LEATHER CASE AND ORIGINAL MAKER'S BOX. Exceptional!
MINT £7500.00
10mm f/5.6 OP Fisheye-Nikkor, pre-AI
NEAR NEW. Exceptionally rare. Complete with finder, Front & rear caps, original maker's box. We have NEVER seen such a complete example in our entire history of 30 years. The OP Fisheye-Nikkor 10mm f/5.6 was released in 1968 and was the world's first lens to project an orthographic image onto the film plane. It was also a milestone design inasmuch as it was the first SLR lens in the world to incorporate the fiendishly difficult to produce aspheric element (as used in the most expensive Schmidt telescope designs). The subjects in the centre of the image appear larger than those at the edges, and the entire field is thus evenly illuminated. The OP creates a round image with a diameter of 20mm. This lens is used on the Nikon F or F2 with the mirror-up and with a separate finder mounted on the accessory shoe (finder supplied with lens). Focal length: 10mm, Angle of view: 180°, Aperture scale: f/5.6-f/22, 9 elements in 6 groups, Filters: Built-in, L1A, Y48, Y52, 056, R60 & X0, Fixed focus, 84mm dia. x 105mm length, Weight: 380g, DF-1 fisheye finder. 50mm f/2 Nikkor-H.C Auto, pre-AI, scalloped focus barrel, black filter rim
Each Nikkor lens has certain markings indicating the optical design. These letters were codes indicating the number of elements in each lens. The letters are derived from Latin and Greek words denoting numbers: U = Uns = 1 element B = Bini = 2 elements T = Tres = 3 elements Q = Quatuor = 4 elements P = Pente = 5 elements H = Hex = 6 elements S = Septem = 7 elements O = Octo = 8 elements N = Novem = 9 elements D = Dece = 10 elements For example the 50mm f/2 Nikkor S would indicate a 7 element lens. Later the letter 'C' began to appear, following the code letter for the number for elements: e.g. 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor SC. The C-type Nikkors indicate that some or all of their glass elements are multi-coated. There were slight cosmetic changes that also differentiate the C-type lenses, which have a black finish to their filter ring

*Definition: Nikon digital SLRs have either an FX or a DX sensor. The FX sensor, measuring 24x36mm, is roughly equivalent to the size of the 35mm film frame. The DX sensor is smaller, measuring 15.8x23.6mm.

DX-NIKKOR lenses are engineered and optimized for use on Nikon DX-format D-SLRs and are designed to cover the smaller image area of the DX sensor. When a DX lens is mounted on an FX-format Nikon D-SLR, the cameras DX-Crop Mode is automatically engaged, introducing a 1.5x magnification (cropping) factor.
