"It is a large photographic print of a part of the world I have a great love for," Doven said in a recent interview.
Some years ago, Doven rented a helicopter and flew from Kathmandu, Nepal to Mt. Everest Base camp. Drinking tea with the Lamas at the region's highest monastery, he saw the mountain of his dreams, spending the day taking photos to capture the images.
As Doven's party turned back down valley to return to Kathmandu, in the distance he saw the vista filled with most spectacular blue, huge mountain ridges. During the descent from the Himalayan plain, Doven took the shot of the EVEREST VALLEY from the helicopter. The combination of altitude (18,000 feet) and the clear day caused the colour temperature to appear very blue both to the eye and on the film negative.
"The result was a view of the EVEREST VALLEY we never get to see," Doven said.
EVEREST VALLEY is a fine art Giclée print on Museum Matte Archival Hahnemuhle paper. The photo was shot on Mamiya 7 film from a helicopter near Mt. Everest, Nepal.
The fine art photo print, EVEREST VALLEY, is 3 of 5, measuring 30"wide by 24" high.
In 2010, Doven's CENTRAL PARK print sold at the first Christie's Green auction. A print from the same CENTRAL PARK series of five sold the same week for $9,500.
